We're pleased to announce that our annual Release Party and Open house will happen on two dates; Saturday, August 23rd and Saturday, August 30th - Noon to 5pm both days. We'll be pouring samples of our newest release, the outstanding 2012 vintage. we're really excited about these wines and look forward to seeing everyone.

Braden provided the information below:

"Quite arguably our best vintage, 2012 lent us the ability to truly make world class wines. This was the first vintage that we were able to use our new 10hp destemmer and boy what a vintage to get started with. the grapes were hand-sorted and gently destemmed. Then they underwent a 4 day cold soak with a high amount of whole berries, and some whole clusters. Roughly after a 2 week maceration the wines went straight to a mix of French, American and Hungarian 225L oak barrels, with gross lees, for 20 months. They were racked for the first time in June and bottled unfiltered/unfined.

We will be offering 5 wines this year including three new cuvees two of which include our first attempt at Petite Sirah. All five wines in 2012 are built to last. Rich fruit, hearty tannins and racy acidity have all integrated seamlessly to create wines that are approachable now but could last an easy 10 years in your cellar."

The five wines consist of a couple familiar names, a new blend and our first ever reserve wines. 100% Colorado grapes.

Fortune Seeker - 66% Petit Verdot, 17% Syrah, 17% Cab Sauv. 145 cases produced.

Gunslinger - 50% Syrah, 33% Cab Sauv, 17% Petit Verdot. 145 cases produced.

Horse Thief - 50% Petite Sirah, 30% Cab Sauv, 20% Syrah. 120 cases produced.

The Gambler - 100% Syrah. 45 cases produced.

The Outlaw - 100% Petit Sirah. 45 cases produced.

The three blends will have special event pricing of $25/bottle ($30-32 retail) and the reserves will be $40/bottle ($45 retail). If you can't make it to one of the Open Houses, we'll allow you to reserve wine at these prices. We also have a limited amount of magnums available in most of these wines.

Ruby Trust Cellars

64% Syrah, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7%Petit Verdot

The aromas of black olives, smoked meat, bacon fat and black fruit clearly identify this as Syrah. There are hearty campfire flavors along with generous blackberry, sage and lavender flavors. This is a dense, rich and oaky Syrah that will please palates that love bold flavors.  168 cases produced.

68% Petit Verdot, 16% Syrah, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon

Not surprisingly, there is a strong bouquet of flowers, red and blue fruit along with vanilla and toast from the oak. This wine is dense, yet light on the palate. Flavors of dried meat, dark fruit, tobacco, herbs, flowers, some garrigue and a few spicy notes. The tannins are smooth and the finish is long.  144 cases produced.

48% Cabernet Franc, 37% Petit Verdot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon

The Smuggler is dark and black on the color, nose and palate. Leather, dried flowers, dark chocolate and black fruit dominate the nose and palate. It is the biggest of the three with flavor to spare and will probably need the longest time in the bottle. The tannins are dusty and not overwhelming, but create a good backbone for the wine to flesh out around over time. The finish is quite long.  72 cases produced.
